Looking for new ways to help your clients prepare for a baby and adjust to parenthood with greater ease? Want answers to key questions like:
When should I refer clients out for relationship support?
What’s the impact of parents’ relationship stress on their infants’ developmental health?
How can I ease clients’ relationship conflict?
In this dynamic, interactive workshop, life coach and educator, Rhona Berens, PhD, PCC provides informative answers and easy and effective tools to use with your clients immediately!
While relationship satisfaction drops, and conflicts rise, after a baby arrives, few couples capably handle these changes; fewer still understand the negative impact of their discontent on their children’s developmental wellbeing. The more you know about these topics, the better you can assist families from day one!
Participants will learn:
-Research about the developmental impact of parents' relationships on infants & kids;
-Research about the impact of babies on parents' relationships;
-Ways to help expecting couples and new parents normalize relationship shifts and challenges and increase connection between moms and their partners;
-Red flags to help you know when to refer couples out for professional help.
1:00pm - 4:00pm
Curious about the field of Life Coaching and how coaching techniques enhance your communication with clients and help you further empower them? Looking for new ways to turn prospects into clients and better serve clients as they navigate their prenatal and postpartum journey?
Having a baby is a profound life-change, one perfectly suited to life coaching tools. Indeed, many birth workers are natural coaches, devoted to your clients’ wellbeing through the birth process and beyond. You’re also committed to empowering moms and their partners to ensure their own (and their babies’) needs are well met and that they feel capable and successful as parents.
This workshop offers fun, easy and accessible techniques to further empower your clients (and help shift prospects into clients). You’ll learn ways to enhance your intuitive skills with concrete tools to improve positive communication—including how to craft empowering questions and offer effective acknowledgement that really lands—and techniques to improve your clients’ negative self-talk…and your own!
You’ll also learn ways to effectively set expectations with your clients around your services, and help them set their own expectations, and keep firm boundaries, with service providers they encounter in the prenatal and postpartum world, e.g., medical doctors, babysitters.
How to craft Powerful Open-Ended Questions designed to inspire clients to be “at choice” about their decisions, to explore their own perspectives, develop thoughtful responses, and feel deeply listened to and respected;
Positive Communication Techniques designed to foster productive communication, a reciprocal exchange and enhance social-emotional competence;
The Coactive Coaching concept of The Saboteur, an inner critic that resists change and often relies on shame triggers, with a view to better understanding and intervening in negative self-talk and repairing conflict with others.
How to design agreements with clients, and how to help clients design agreements with partners, health professionals, and other service providers, that center on articulating and setting expectations and navigating challenges that arise before, at and after birth.
Rhona Berens, PhD, PCC helps parents in the US and Canada stay sane and stay together, and she trains professionals who work with parents.
