Originally from small-town Saskatchewan...

I moved to Calgary for university and this has been home ever since. After completing my degree (BSc in Psychology) I worked in the public school system until having children of my own. I’ve been blessed to be able to stay home with my four boys who we have managed to do quite a bit of travelling with; a year in the Middle East being a huge highlight.

As a birth doula, I am so happy to be part of the amazing journey of childbirth. I love seeing the strength of women, physically and emotionally, as they adapt to the joys and challenges of pregnancy, labour, birth, and motherhood. I love how partners and other supportive friends press in to do whatever they can to help a birthing woman.  I love the different ways new babies are welcomed into the world by people who love them.

I believe the special partnership between a mother and a birth doula helps the mother feel more prepared for labour, more supported in birth, more satisfied with her birth story, and more emotionally ready to parent her child.  I am confident that a beautiful birth can look many different ways, and that a change in plans can be embraced gracefully. I've seen difficult circumstances overcome when a woman is surrounded by support and encouragement.

I wish you all the best as you go through your pregnancy and the birth of your child!
